Within The Squares
Humans have an innate desire to belong and to find a community they can call their own. The city of Savannah was built with that desire in mind. It was designed to have public spaces where strangers could become friends and friends could become family. The squares became a refuge for connection and peace amidst the city's movement.
This series explores that sense of community by focusing on the faces of people who inhabit these spaces. Cities often rush, full of motion and noise, but Savannah’s squares offer a moment of stillness and patience. Within them, the people seem to create a world of their own, a community built through presence and shared space.
I was drawn to those who made the squares feel alive through music, work, and quiet observation. By photographing them naturally, each person’s story unfolded without direction. My goal was to capture authenticity and let their presence speak for itself. Within the Squares reflects the humanity that gathers when space invites people simply to exist together.
